Bible in a Year Guide

You can decide that today marks a turning point in your life by committing to read the entire Word of God in 365 days! Don’t wait until the beginning of a new year. Right now can be the moment you choose to evaluate your priorities and remove unnecessary distractions to focus on God and your relationship with Him.
Matthew 6:33 encourages us to seek first the Kingdom of God and HIS righteousness and everything else that we desire shall be added onto us.
Tips to using the Bible in a Year Guide:
1. Have an accountability group- Two is better than one and a cord of three cannot be easily broken. Find one or two other friends to encourage each other to remain consistent. Have a group chat to send thoughts and have discussions. Convert your girls group chat from a gossip platform to an edifying altar where God’s presence is welcome.
2. Use a Bible Study Method- We have recommended some of the most efficient ones for you here. Whether you are using a digital device (e.g laptop/iPad) or a notebook to do your study, make sure you’re reflecting and taking notes as God ministers to your heart. Elevate your Bible Study sessions by being intentional to understand and remember themes, verses and God’s character as revealed.
3. Invest in a Bible (and highlighters)– I mean a hardcopy or physical Bible. As much as having a Bible App in your devices is convenient, having an actual Bible is important. Unlike using a device, there are less distractions and temptations to switch to other apps during your study. You are also able to make handwritten notes and highlight as you read, therefore making your personal time with God more intentional.
4. Read it in sessions- I recommend starting off your day in the word and in prayer right after waking up and before going on your phone. Reading two chapters in your morning session and one to two more as you unwind before going to bed is the strategy I highly recommend. Lumping all three to four chapters into one session can be overwhelming and more difficult to get through than reading in sizeable bits and increasing as your interest in the things of God grows.
5. Track your progress- There are columns allocated to mark off the day’s readings. This is to help you track your progress and encourage your consistency and commitment to reading God’s Word everyday.
6. Start with a short prayer- Before starting off your reading, invite God’s presence into the atmosphere. Invite Him into the session and ask Him to open the eyes of your understanding. The prayer can be as simple as “Holy Spirit I invite You into this reading session. Reveal to me the deep mysteries of God and speak to my heart and mind as I read these chapters. Amen.“
May God partner with you as you journey. You got this!
